Developed under the OzU AI Platform, the OzU AI Research Series aims to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry while contributing to the transformative impact of artificial intelligence. Within this framework, the event titled “Explainable Artificial Intelligence in Finance” brought together representatives from academia and the business world to examine, from a multidimensional perspective, the transformation driven by AI applications in the financial sector.
Designed to bridge AI research with practical implementation, the event commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Levent Güntay, Faculty Member in the Department of International Finance at the Faculty of Business, Özyeğin University. The program continued with a panel session moderated by Dr. Güntay. The panel featured Assoc. Prof. Emre Sefer (Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Özyeğin University), Dr. Tolga Durdu (Senior Advisor to the CEO, Fibabanka), and Prof. Mehmet Sıddık Aktaş (Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Yıldız Technical University).
The panel discussions focused on the importance of transparency and trust in the use of AI in the financial sector, the interpretability of AI-driven decision-making processes, and the role of explainability within regulatory frameworks. Participants emphasized that explainable AI is not merely a technical requirement, but a foundational component of ethical and sustainable financial systems.
Through the OzU AI Research Series, which contributes to the AI ecosystem from multiple perspectives, Özyeğin University will continue to foster interdisciplinary research and further strengthen academia and industry collaboration.
